My passion for jewellery began early, experimenting with materials in my family basement before I was even ten years old. This lifelong dedication led to a formal four-year apprenticeship in Zurich, Switzerland, where I mastered the traditional arts of goldsmithing, stone cutting, and precision diamond setting. By combining this rigorous technical training with studies at the Zurich Art School, I developed a meticulous eye for detail and a deep appreciation for creating handcrafted, one-of-a-kind designs that truly capture a client's vision.
In 1981, I brought my Swiss craftsmanship to Vancouver, eventually establishing "Gerald The Swiss Goldsmith" in Kerrisdale. After running my own storefront for over a decade, I transitioned to a private workshop model that allows me to significantly reduce overhead costs and pass those savings directly to my clients. Today, I continue to offer high-quality, custom-made jewellery, drawing inspiration from my global travels to source unique gems and create timeless pieces without the markup of a traditional retail store.
